Add a Dial-Up Connection

Now that Dial-up Networking and the TCP protocol are installed, and TCP/IP are bound to Dial-Networking, you need to create a Dial-Up connection that will call your local access number.
NOTE: You may make several of these connections for different access numbers.
Go to My Computer.
Double-click on Dialup Networking.

If you have no other connections made, the Make New Connection Wizard will automatically run. Otherwise, Double-click on the Make New Connection icon.
* Enter the name of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) you are calling.
* Select the modem you will use from the Select a Modem drop down box.
* Click on Configure to change any modem settings.
* Click on Next to continue.
* Click on Cancel to exit the connection setup.

Enter your local dialup number in the fields and Click on Next. Visit our access numbers page to find a local access number.

Click on Finish to save the connection in the Dial-Up Networking folder.

Now that you have created the icon, you need to setup some specific configurations for the Dial-Up Networking connection.
To edit an existing icon, right click on the connection you wish to edit, and select Properties.

This window shows the connection name, the number that will be used to connect, as well as the modem selected to dial the number.
Click on Server Type to configure TCP/IP.

The Server Types window allows you to choose the type of server you are connecting to, as well as choosing the allowed protocols. Remote Access only uses the TCP/IP protocol.

Click on TCP/IP Settings to configure domain name servers, etc...

This dialog box sets the TCP/IP information for each dialup connection.
